Elim's Foundational Truths

Elim Church Northampton is grounded in twelve foundational truths that shape our theology and guide our beliefs. These truths, outlined below, are not merely doctrines but powerful declarations that inform everything we say and do.

1. the bible

We affirm the Bible as the inspired and infallible Word of God, without error. It serves as the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

2. THE TRINITY

We believe in the Triune nature of God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who exist co-equally and co-eternally. They are one God, sovereign in creation, providence, and redemption.

3. THE SAVIOUR

We confess Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, acknowledging His deity, virgin birth, sinless life, sacrificial death, bodily resurrection, ascension, intercession, and imminent return.

4. THE HOLY SPIRIT

We affirm the Holy Spirit’s deity and essential role in conviction, regeneration, sanctification, and empowerment of believers for ministry through baptism and spiritual gifts.

5. MANKIND

We recognise humanity’s universal sinfulness since the Fall, leading to our condemnation apart from salvation in Christ.

6. SALVATION

Salvation comes through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, resulting in justification by God’s grace, received through faith alone, and evidenced by transformed lives.

7. THE CHURCH

The Church consists of all believers in Christ, unified spiritually and serving as the Body of Christ.

8. THE MINISTRY

We acknowledge Christ’s appointment of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, along with the ongoing operation of spiritual gifts in the Church.

9. THE ORDINANCES

We practice believer’s baptism by immersion and commemorate Christ’s death through the observance of the Lord’s Supper.

10. THE COMMISSION

The Church is commissioned to proclaim the Gospel and minister to humanity’s spiritual and physical needs.

11. THE COMING KING

We anticipate Jesus Christ’s return to establish His reign in power and glory.

12. THE FUTURE STATE

We affirm the resurrection of the dead, final judgement, and eternal destinies—eternal bliss for the righteous and eternal punishment for the wicked.
