What Alpha offers, and what is attracting thousands of people, is permission, rare in secular culture, to discuss the big questions: life and death and their meaning.
At Elim Church Northampton, we believe that everyone deserves a safe space to ask life’s biggest questions—no pressure, no judgment, just honest conversation.
Alpha is an open and informal series of sessions designed to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed, friendly environment. Whether you’re new to faith, curious about Christianity, or just exploring life’s deeper questions, Alpha is a great place to start.
Alpha is more than just a course—it’s a journey. Each session includes:
A warm welcome and hospitality (often with food or refreshments)
A short talk or video exploring a big question about life and faith
Space for open conversation, where you can share your thoughts and hear others’ perspectives
No two Alpha courses are identical, but they all create space for meaningful connection and discovery. Sessions typically run for 8 to 11 weeks, and you’re welcome to try the first session with no commitment.
In a world full of noise and opinions, Alpha offers something rare: the permission to pause, reflect, and ask honest questions about belief, purpose, and truth.
Whether you’re asking:
Is there more to life than this?
Who is Jesus, really?
Why do bad things happen?
Does prayer work?
…or simply want to explore faith with others, Alpha creates the space to do just that.
You don’t need to be religious. You don’t need to have all the answers. You don’t even need to agree with everything that’s said.
Just come as you are—with your questions, your doubts, and your curiosity.
Our next Alpha course will be starting soon, and we’d love to invite you.

No pressure. No charge. No catch. Just good conversations.
