The Beginnings of the Elim Movement
The Elim Pentecostal Church began in 1915, in the midst of the First World War. In Monaghan, Ireland, a small group of young men invited Welsh evangelist George Jeffreys to hold meetings. Moved by their passion and faith, Jeffreys responded—and on 7 January 1915, the Elim Evangelistic Band was formed in the Temperance Hall. Their mission was simple but powerful: to share the Christian gospel in the power of the Holy Spirit—first in Ireland, then far beyond.
Elim Church Northampton (ECN) was founded in 1967, birthed through an evangelistic campaign led by Evangelist Alex Tee. For over five decades, our church has remained focused on one central purpose:
To reach people with the life-changing good news of Jesus Christ.
Today, ECN is a multicultural family church in the heart of the city; home to people from over 40 nationalities and across all generations. We’re committed to being a friendly, relevant, life-giving church where everyone is welcome and everyone can belong.
Worship is at the heart of who we are. We believe God deserves every part of our lives, our time, our talents, and our everyday moments. “Take your everyday, ordinary life… and place it before God as an offering.” (Romans 12:1, MSG)
We are passionate about helping people grow in their relationship with God, become more like Jesus, and flourish in their gifts and purpose. “God’s people will be equipped to do better work for Him, building up the Church… to strength and maturity.” (Ephesians 4:12, TLB)
We believe the gospel is not just to be shared, it’s to be shown. We serve our community with compassion, both in word and action. “In kindness He takes us by the hand and leads us into a radical life-change.” (Romans 2:4, MSG)
